The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu - All Patron Saints and How to Unlock Them
You'll need all the help you can get if you hope to survive The Mound's cursed jungles.
Patron Saints provide some of the most useful expedition bonuses in The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu. Among other things, their blessings can strengthen weapons, improve healing, protect you from fatal attacks, or help keep your crew’s deteriorating mental state under control.
Players can unlock a total of nine Patron Saints, and consequently nine blessings, as they progress through the game. Each one begins as a small Sacred Figure found at a fixed altar somewhere in the cursed jungle. Recovering the figure is only part of the process, though, since you’ll also need to rescue the Woodworker before any of them can be used.
Launch note: ACE Team has confirmed that fixes and changes to the Patron Saint system are coming in an upcoming patch. The altar locations and blessings below are based on the launch version of the game, but the process of purchasing and equipping carved figures may change in the future.
How to Unlock and Use Patron Saints
Before you can equip a Patron Saint, you need to rescue the Woodworker and bring him back to the Tempestad. The Woodworker has a chance to appear during an expedition to South Landing. Check the expedition map before setting out and look for the Lost Survivor icon over the region. If it isn’t there, the Woodworker won’t appear during that particular expedition.
Once you find him, knock him unconscious, carry him back to the ox-wagon, and place him inside. You’ll then need to finish the expedition and extract successfully. The Woodworker will join the crew aboard the Tempestad afterward.
With the Woodworker rescued, the full Patron Saint unlock process works as follows:
1. Find a Sacred Figure at one of the Saint Altars in the jungle.
2. Carry the figure back to the ox-wagon and complete the expedition.
3. Visit the Woodworker aboard the Tempestad.
4. Have him use the Sacred Figure as a model for a larger carving.
5. Select the finished Patron Saint at the ox-wagon before your next expedition and pay the listed Token cost.
You can only bring one Patron Saint blessing on an expedition, so check your supplied weapons, weather forecast, and contract before choosing one.

Archangel Saint Michael
Blessing: Strengthens swords and blades.
Archangel Saint Michael is the Patron Saint to bring when your supplied equipment includes rapiers, side swords, machetes, or other bladed weapons. This is a pretty straightforward combat blessing, although its value depends heavily on what the captain has decided to provide for that particular expedition.
Michael’s Sacred Figure is found in Shambler’s Hunting Grounds. Make your way to the Fort, leave through its northern exit, and follow the path as it bends around to the west. The route eventually drops down onto a ledge containing the altar and figure.
The ledge is easy to miss if you stay on the main route, so watch for a lower path as you circle the Fort.
Archangel Saint Raphael
Blessing: Grants steady health regeneration.
Raphael offers one of the more flexible blessings because it doesn’t require a specific weapon or consumable. Steady regeneration is particularly helpful during long expeditions where food and other healing supplies start running low.
Raphael’s Sacred Figure is found Near the Mound, inside the deepest part of the underground cave complex. Enter the caves through the southeastern entrance beside the waterfalls, then follow the path of the water downward. The figure is waiting at a candlelit shrine in the lowest section of the caves.
Saint Barbara
Blessing: Strengthens firearms.
Saint Barbara is the natural choice for an expedition built around pistols, arquebuses, muskets, and other firearms. The blessing won’t solve the usual problems related to limited ammunition or wet gunpowder, but it will help you get more from each shot that actually fires.
Her Sacred Figure is in the northeastern part of The Watching Trees. Look for foliage blocking a path and cut through it. Continue toward the nearby river until you reach an altar on a cliff overlooking the water. The figure is sitting on a candlelit table.
The altar is outside the central tangle of paths, so following the river and keeping to the northeastern edge of the region is easier than trying to approach it through the middle.
Saint Benedict
Blessing: Allows you to survive one deadly blow each day.
Saint Benedict gives you a second chance when an attack would otherwise kill you. The protection refreshes each in-game day, making him a great choice for dangerous contracts and expeditions where you expect to spend more than a day in the jungle.
Saint Benedict is also one of the better general-purpose options when your group hasn’t settled on a particular weapon type. Surviving a fatal hit is useful whether you’re holding a sword, bow, firearm, or the sad remains of a nearly broken knife.
Benedict’s Sacred Figure is found in the Wreck of the Lazarillo. Head into the southwestern portion of the region and look for an altar near the center of that section of the local map.
Saint Dymphna
Blessing: Touching the statue dispels altered states of the spirit.
Saint Dymphna helps deal with mental and spiritual effects caused by interacting with cursed artifacts or spending too much time in the jungle. Touching her statue on the ox-wagon removes altered states, giving the group a way to recover when an expedition’s Madness effects begin causing problems.
Since you need to return to the statue to use the blessing, Dymphna works best when the crew stays reasonably close to the wagon. She becomes less convenient if everyone scatters across the region and remembers the statue only after somebody starts seeing three copies of the same teammate.
Dymphna’s Sacred Figure is in the Cliffs of Ibarra - North. Look for a rocky rise topped by a candlelit shrine. Climb to the shrine and check the stones around it. The figure is resting on one of them.
Saint Eulalia
Blessing: Holds back the rain.
Rain can turn a firearm-heavy expedition into an absolute disaster. Wet gunpowder weapons will either fail or refuse to fire at all in this game. Meanwhile, visibility and navigation will become more difficult, further increasing the challenge of the expedition.
Saint Eulalia is therefore worth considering whenever the forecast calls for poor weather, especially if the expedition supplies several matchlock or flintlock weapons. Saint Barbara offers more direct firearm power, but Eulalia helps make sure those weapons continue working.
Her Sacred Figure is found in South Landing. Follow the beach toward the southwestern part of the region and look for an altar near the shoreline. The figure is sitting on top of it.
Saint George
Blessing: Strengthens spears, halberds, and polearms.
Saint George fills the same role for polearms that Michael, Barbara, and Sebastian provide for their respective weapon families. Bring him when the expedition supplies spears or halberds and the crew plans to make regular use of them.
His Sacred Figure is found in the Abandoned Mapuche Settlement. Head south from the Fort and search the rocky high ground for an outdoor shrine beneath a tree. The altar is surrounded by candles, which makes it easier to pick out among the rocks and vegetation.
Saint Paschal Baylón
Blessing: Food restores more health.
Saint Paschal Baylón improves every piece of food the crew finds or brings along. This is a dependable blessing for longer contracts, especially when ammunition is scarce and taking some damage is unavoidable.
The saint's blessing also reduces the amount of food needed to recover after a fight. That leaves more supplies available for later in the expedition and saves inventory space that might otherwise be filled with emergency healing.
Paschal’s Sacred Figure is in the Flooded Forest. Work your way toward the southeastern corner of the region and search along its outer edge. The altar is located in that corner of the local map.
Saint Sebastian
Blessing: Strengthens bows.
Saint Sebastian is the best fit for a group relying primarily on bows. Bows remain usable in the rain, don’t create the same problems as gunfire, and you can often recover some of their ammunition after a fight. Sebastian is a great Patron Saint for crews working with limited amounts of ammo and supplies.
His Sacred Figure is found in Scarlet Flower Woods. Follow the southern boundary of the region toward its midpoint. The altar is positioned against the southern wall.
Which Patron Saint Should You Bring?
Weapon-focused Patron Saints are easy to choose once you know what equipment the expedition provides. Michael covers all manner of bladed weapons, Barbara strengthens firearms, George improves polearms, and Sebastian strengthens bows. These blessings lose much of their value if only one member of the crew is using the appropriate weapon, so check the whole group’s loadout before spending any Tokens.
Raphael, Benedict, and Paschal provide broader survival bonuses. Dymphna is useful when Madness effects are causing repeated problems, while Eulalia can save a firearm-heavy expedition when the forecast looks miserable.
After the Woodworker has produced all nine carvings, you’ll unlock the Patron of the Arts achievement.
