Corsair Cove: How To Get More Drifters

Corsair Cove is all about you, the captain of a rogue crew, setting out to rule the archipelago. But one important thing to remember is that, alone, you are as good as useless.

The key to success is to remember that more hands make for idle work, and that means you'll need to consistently add to your crew. Something that isn't always easy to do, especially when you run out of able-bodied people waiting for a job.

This can lead to situations where you're unable to build a crew for a ship, or assign a Fletcher to transport goods, to name just a few drawbacks. So, here is a rundown on how to get more drifters, which will hopefully help you avoid this annoying personnel problem.

The More, The Merrier

While you have no control over when they become available to you, random events will usually be the most lucrative source Drifters Corsair Cove offers.

These events will vary, offering unique scenarios in which drifters may come seeking refuge, Crown Castaways may plead for a chance at revenge, or some sick people may seek food and rest to recover in return for their labor.

The trade-off is usually a loss of Cohesion, or a depletion of gold or resources. But, if you have these things in excess, getting more people to enter your ranks is a very worthwhile trade-off.

Jailbreak

The event will have you fight some ships meant to ferry prisoners, and then once completed, you will be given a chance to fish as many of them as you can from the water against the clock.

Provided you have a level two ship, this is a quick and easy way to get a lot of Drifters aboard your ship, and then all that's left to do is sail them back to base and put them to work.

Jailbreak At Sea

Occasionally, you will also see a similar jailbreak opportunity roaming the waters on your Seven Seas Map, as there are Prison Transport Ships that sail around, just begging to be boarded.

These are timed events, and if they reach their destination, you will not be able to attack them and claim their prisoners as your own, so time is of the essence.

But provided you can sail out there in time, and have access to a level two ship, this is a reliable way to get some new workers and ferry them back to base.

A Statue In Your Image

Collecting drifters in bulk tends to be only possible on a consistent basis by heading out to sea and completing events. However, you can build some things that will buff your drifter haul as you do.

For every statue that you build on your island, you will gain three more drifters when you return to base with a ship full of new recruits.

This will cost you 200x Gold for every statue you build, but if you're constantly going out on missions at sea, this will pay you back tenfold.

Land Of The Rising Sun

A little later in the game, when you acquire some principal points and check off some of the Deeds on your to-do list, you'll have the option to unlock the Rising Sun.

This building lets you pay to enlist workers, as those assigned to it can charm and coerce Drifters into joining your ranks.

You will be able to hire 25, 50, or 75 Drifters, paying a total of 350, 650, 0r 900 Gold, respectively.

The building itself also costs 500 Gold to build. It's not the cheapest option, but one that completely negates the need to acquire Drifters at sea, provided you have the gold to pay for the privilege.

Retain Your Crew

Lastly, there is also the small matter of the crews you sent out to sea to complete missions. It's easy to forget about them as active members of the base when they are away. But, when they fall in battle, they could be gone for good.

The best course of action here is to try to play through these naval battles tactically to avoid losing too many crew members. When your ship's health is looking a little worse for wear, it's best to just return to port to make repairs.

However, late in the game, when you have made a great deal of progress in your Notoriety Compass path, you'll gain access to an unlockable called 'Ocean Colosseum'. A handy upgrade that ensures that, as long as your ship doesn't go down in battle, your crew will resurrect after each successful event.
