Moonlight Peaks: All Livestock & Best Animals To Make Profit

Look at all those Cheekens!

Updated 3 min read

Moonlight Peaks may be a farming sim, but it's one that absolutely does things on its own terms. So if you plan to be a livestock farmer, you won't find your typical assortment of Sheep, Cows, Chickens, Pigs and Goats. Instead, you'll find weird and wonderful creatures of the supernatural variety.

However, the goal remains the same. You look after these animals, feed them, pet them, and give them a roof over their heat. Which, in return, they will reward with an assortment of animal products that you can sell, refine, or use to cook up a storm in the kitchen.

But, you may be wondering what you need to do to get these animals, and indeed, which of them are the best investment when it comes to making profit. Well, allow us to be your guide to livestock in Moonlight Peaks.

How To Get Animals in Moonlight Peaks

Unlocking animals is pretty straightforward in Moonlight Peaks. Early in the game, around the time you finish fixing your house's roof, Ridge will come by and tell you that he will be willing to build a Barn for you. All you need to do is come by his shop to make that happen.

However, there is a cost. You'll have to make 4,000 gold for the privilege. When you do, after a day of building, you'll have a barn on your farm, and you can then purchase animals.

These are purchased at Luna's farm, beginning with Cheekens, but her animal options will vary as you start to fill up your barn.

You can only have 4 animals in a barn, so you'll need to build multiple of these buildings if you want to have all animal variants on your farm.

What Animals Are Available

Now that you know how to get them, it would probably be helpful to know the different types of animals and how much you'll expect to pay for each.

Here is a complete list of all the farm animals present in Moonlight Peaks:

  • Cheeken - 1,200 Coins
  • Rabicula - 2,800 Coins
  • Piggoat - 3,500 Coins
  • Draculamb - 4,500 Coins
  • Cowcula - 6,000 Coins
  • Stoney - 9,000 Coins
  • Bumpkin - 12,000 Coins

Which Animal Is Most Profitable?

Firstly, before we discuss which one is best in terms of raw profit, here is a breakdown of what each animal produces, fodder costs, and fertilizer production:

  • Cheeken: Produces Egg & Golden Egg, costs one Fodder, produces one fertilizer
  • Rabicula: Produces Bunny Footprints, costs one Fodder, produces one Fertilizer.
  • Piggoat: Produces Piggoat Milk, costs one Fodder, produces three Fertilizer
  • Draculamb: Produces Draculamb Wool & Draculamb Milk. Costs two Fodder, produces three Fertilizer.
  • Cowcula: Produces Cowcula Milk, costs three Fodder, produces four Fertilizer
  • Stoney: Produces Heart Stone, costs one Fodder, produces three fertilizer.
  • Bumpkin: Produces Plops, costs one Fodder, produces two Fertilizer

With this in mind, and assuming you have all animals in play on your farm. The most profitable animal is the Draculamb pound for pound, as this offers two types of produce per day, while also offering a decent amount of fertilizer per day to enhance crops.

However, in terms of pure monetary value per item, Stoney and Bumpkin are the big money earners. You'll pay a lot to get them, but they will give you that back tenfold. Plus, Heart Stones are needed for the Frictionless Farming Potion, which is yet another reason to have Stoneys on your farm.
