Aion 2: What to Do With Old Gear
Here's how to deal with your old gear in Aion 2!
Inventory space can become a problem surprisingly early in Aion 2. Since most items occupy their own inventory slot, your inventory slots can quickly disappear as you collect quest rewards, materials, equipment and boss drops.
Therefore, replacing old gear is an important part of progression, as your inventory can quickly fill with equipment you no longer use. So, if you are wondering what to do with old gear in Aion 2, here’s a complete guide to everything you can do with it.
What Should You Do With Old Gear in Aion 2
The best way to handle old gear depends on its rarity, enhancement level, binding status, and whether it has another use. For ordinary equipment you have completely replaced, Item Extraction is the best option because it frees up inventory space while giving you useful rewards.
However, you should not immediately extract every item you no longer use. Keep heavily enhanced equipment, Unique gear, tradable items, and equipment you can use for other progression systems. Below, we’ve mentioned some of the effective things that you can do with your old gear.
Extract Old Gear You No Longer Need
Item Extraction is the main option for clearing out outdated equipment. Instead of deleting a weapon or armor piece, extraction dismantles the item and provides useful rewards, such as Enhancement Stones and its skin for your cosmetic collection. The extraction window also shows what you will receive before you confirm the action.
So, to extract old equipment, open your Cube first. Then, select the gear you no longer need, and choose the Item Extraction option. After that, check the displayed rewards and Kina cost before confirming the extraction. Once you complete the extraction, the original equipment will be consumed.
For normal low-level equipment that has been replaced by better gear, extraction is a better choice than filling up valuable inventory space. You can prioritize extraction for equipment that is outdated, unbound, no longer part of your build, or not useful for another character.
TIP: Before extracting higher-value gear, check whether it has Soul Binding effects or a valuable skin. If you have heavily invested enhanced equipment, it’s better to transfer the enhancements to another piece or sync it with another piece of gear than extract it.
Transfer Enhancements From Old Gear
If you have invested heavily in an old piece of equipment, extracting it may not be the best decision. Aion 2 has systems that let you transfer certain investments from older equipment to your replacement gear.
This is especially important for equipment with a high enhancement level. So, check whether your old equipment meets the requirements for Inheritance or Gear Transfer before extracting it. Since transfer requirements and costs vary by item, you should always check the transfer interface before destroying a heavily invested item.
Use Unique Gear for Syncing
You can use Unique Gear for Syncing rather than simply dismantling it. Unique Gear with lower stats or Gear Score does not necessarily become useless once you find better equipment. You can use that gear for the Sync system to transfer or roll its available stats onto another piece of gear that you want to bind with.
This is an important part of the Soul Binding system and can help you obtain the Binding Effects you want on a specific piece of gear. Because of this, you may need to Sync the same gear multiple times before obtaining the specific Binding Effect you are looking for. This is particularly useful if you get duplicate dungeon drops and Unique equipment.
Check Supply Requests Before Extracting
Another option for certain unwanted equipment is Supply Requests. You can use some equipment to fulfill requests in exchange for useful rewards like Abyss Points or Enhancement Stones, depending on the request. You can check whether a gear is requested by clicking ESC and then pressing the Supply Request option.
Once the interface opens up, press any type of request category and select any request you want to fulfill. If an old item has a Supply Request marker or appears as an eligible submission, compare the reward with what you would receive from extraction.
Sell Old Gear
You can sell unwanted items to NPC merchants in your faction's main base and various towns throughout Aion 2. To find a merchant, open the map and travel to your faction's base or a nearby town. After that, zoom in on the map and look for merchant icons. Then, interact with the Merchant NPC. Once the Merchant NPC interface opens, select Go to Sell, choose the items you want to get rid of, and press Sell to complete the transaction.
Another simple way to free up inventory space is through the Auction House, also known as the Market, where you can trade valuable items with other players. This makes it a useful option when you have tradeable equipment or materials that may be worth more to another player than their standard merchant value.
So, if an old equipment piece is highly valued in the market, trading it is better than extracting it. So, check the Market and compare the item's current value with the rewards shown in the Extraction window.
NOTE: To get access to the Auction House, you need the Special Quai Membership Subscription (USD14.99), and your character needs toreach Level 45.
Keep Old Gear If You Are Unsure
Sometimes the best decision is to do nothing immediately. If you are unsure whether an item has value, place it in Personal Storage instead of extracting or deleting it. This is especially useful for heavily enhanced equipment, Unique items, rare drops, or gear that may be useful for another character.
So, it's recommended to take time to confirm an item's purpose before making a rash decision. You should also consider keeping equipment that could be useful for another build or character slot, provided its binding and transfer restrictions allow it.
