Aniimo: Perfumer Ron's Memoirs Quest Walkthrough (Follow the Roots)

This guide specifically covers the first part of Perfumer Ron's Memoirs in Aniimo, where you unlock the Twisted Roots Sanctum by finding three Vine Cores and uncover some of Ron's memoirs along the way. If you haven't discovered the Twisted Roots Sanctum in Mistwoods yet, check your journal for the Ancient Sacred Fragrance quest and follow it until you locate and defeat Tuckin in Mistwoods.

Once you defeat Tuckin, you'll unlock the Binding Oaths questline naturally, and Aniimo will direct you to the underground Sanctum.

Where is the Twisted Roots Sanctum in Aniimo?

The Twisted Roots Sanctum can be accessed by dropping down through several holes in the ground around the Mistwoods. The three entrances are to the north, east, and west of map coordinates -0922, 1222, which is the exact location of the Sanctum.

Aniimo Vine Core Locations

After meeting Ron outside the Sanctum, he'll ask you to "follow the roots" to find three Vine Cores that should force the vines locking the Twisted Roots Sanctum to recede. If you do not find these Vine Cores, you cannot access this Sanctum.

The three roots that have pushed down into the walls of the Sanctum lead to the north, east, and west of Mistwoods. Climb up the side of the Sanctum to walk along any of the paths offered by each of the three large roots.

Vine Core #1

"Climb the vine on the right, keep going, and you'll reach a large stretch of the ruins. It's a Hexxin gathering point."

The first Vine Core is near the maze ruins on the east side of Mistwoods. Climb onto the vine that stretches out to the right side of the Twisted Roots Sanctum and follow it until you reach a stone bridge with a girl on it and a large set of stone stairs.

Instead of battling your way through the maze to reach the centre, go around the north side of the area and climb up the wall so that you can switch to a flying Aniimo and simply ride the air current to the middle where there's a glowing flower on a pedestal.

Interact with the flower and watch the first root recede. Now you only have to do the same thing twice more in other locations.

Vine Core #2

"The swamp in the west? Take the vine on the left and keep going—you'll see a wide stretch of marshland."

The second Vine Core can be found in the swamp, which has some negative effects if you spend too long in the water. Luckily, the flower you're looking for isn't in the water; it's on top of one of the odd rock/mud formations.

Following the root doesn't work well here because the root path goes underwater, which cuts off visibility. But you have this guide, so you can cheat a little and just hop onto the correct platform from the outer edge of Mistwoods instead of going through the swamp.

This Vine Core flower is protected by spiky vines. You can either fly over and drop down onto it from above or use a fire-type like Flameruff to burn off the vines before you jump over.

With the second Vine Core in your inventory, it's time to move on to the final one.

Vine Core #3

"That cave is straight ahead. There's no light inside—it's completely dark."

The cave is the most difficult of the three Vine Core locations to find.

You'll find the entrance to the cave at map coordinates -0897, 1354.

Twine with an Aniimo that can shoot fire at a target to burn down the vines preventing you from accessing the cave.

Head inside, follow the path, and you'll come across the final glowing flower in the first open room. It's on the right-hand side, tucked away next to the cave wall. While you can continue the additional quest that the cave opens for you and head "upstairs" to defeat the Wisptis there, it's not necessary to unlock the Twisted Roots Sanctum.

It's an easy fight, either way.

Now that you have all three Vine Cores, head back to the Twisted Roots Sanctum underground and give them to Ron.
