How Does Romance Work in Moonlight Peaks?
Moonlight Peaks launches July 7 with 23 dateable characters, marriage, vampire-turning and jealous partners – here is how romance works in this cozy vampire life-sim.
We're only a few days away from Moonlight Peaks finally releasing on July 7, and if you're anything like me, the farming is only half the reason you've been keeping an eye on this one. Little Chicken Game Company's cozy vampire life-sim lets you settle into a spooky mountain town, raise mystical crops, learn a bit of spell-casting – and, most importantly, fall in love. The town is packed with werewolves, witches, mermaids and other creatures of the night, and a surprising amount of them happen to be single.
The team has now officially confirmed the full lineup of dateable characters, and it's a generous one: 23 residents are waiting to be wooed. That is a lot of hearts to consider, so before you hand yours over to the first werewolf who smiles at you, let's talk about how romance in Moonlight Peaks actually works.

23 Dateable Characters Is a Lot of Options
Most life-sims give you a neat dozen bachelors and bachelorettes and call it a day. Moonlight Peaks nearly doubles that, with a roster spanning the town's seven families – vampires, werewolves, witches, mermaids and a few residents that defy easy categorization. If you have ever wanted to court Death himself, this is apparently the game for you.
Even better, all 23 options are available to you regardless of how you build your vampire. Character customization doesn't lock you out of anyone, so your perfect gothic persona can pursue whoever catches their eye. Considering you play as Dracula's kid trying to prove that a life of compassion is possible, romancing across species lines feels rather fitting.
Befriend, Date, Marry – and Then Turn Them
The team has confirmed the full romance pipeline: you can befriend the locals, date them, and eventually marry the one who has well and truly won you over. And because this is still a vampire fantasy at its core, you can then turn your spouse into a vampire. Eternal love, in the most literal sense possible.
What you can't do is have children. The team has been clear that kids are not a planned feature, so your immortal bloodline ends with you and your freshly turned spouse. Honestly, between the farm, the potions and 22 other residents wondering where it all went wrong, you'll have your hands full anyway.
Yes, You Can Date Around – But They Will Notice
Here's the detail I find most delightful: the team has said you can date multiple NPCs at the same time, but you can only marry one. Your various love interests aren't oblivious, either – they may well have opinions about who else you've been seeing around town.
That is a genuinely fun wrinkle for a cozy game to include. Plenty of life-sims let you court the whole village consequence-free, which always feels a little hollow. Moonlight Peaks giving its residents just enough awareness to comment on your romantic escapades makes the town feel alive – or undead, at the very least. Whether you play it safe or juggle half the cast until the wedding bells force a decision is entirely up to you.
Romance Is How You Get to Know the Town
Relationships in Moonlight Peaks aren't just a side activity, they're woven into the game's central mystery. The seven families that inhabit the town all carry their own histories and secrets, and building relationships with the locals is how you slowly uncover them. The official blurb even promises you might find your "tomb" love along the way, and I refuse to be mad at that pun.
So, while 23 options might sound overwhelming, the game seems built around the idea that getting close to people – romantically or otherwise – is the whole point. Every friendship deepens your understanding of Moonlight Peaks, and every romance is another thread in the town's story.
A Few More Nights in the Coffin
With release day just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start shortlisting your favorites. With 23 dateable characters open to any vampire persona you create, along with full freedom for marriage, vampiric transformation, and a touch of jealousy, Moonlight Peaks has set a strong foundation for a life-sim romance system.
Moonlight Peaks releases on July 7. Choose your tomb love wisely.
