Palworld: How to Get Hardwood

Here's how to get Hardwood in Palworld.

Updated 2 min read

Palword 1.0 is finally upon us! The massive update heralds a whole host of new changes for the mystical islands. From exciting new Pals to the overhauled combat system, capturing your friendly or not-so-friendly sidekicks has never felt better! With 13 new weapons to choose from and a handful of gigantic new locations to explore, you're bound to have a whale of a time exploring Sunreach and the long-awaited World Tree while vanquishing your foes.

But there's one problem ... where's the Hardwood? Players have quickly run into a problem while expanding their base and claiming dominion across the lands. How does one find Hardwood? It appears that Palworld doesn't necessarily guide you to the coveted new wood type, especially if you're ahead of the game and progressing quickly.

This guide is a work in progress. As we continue exploring Palworld 1.0, we'll update this page with new information, images, and details. Be sure to bookmark this page and check back soon!

How to Find Hardwood

There are a few locations and tree types that seemingly yield Hardwood when chopped down:

  • Sakurajima Island - Cherry Blossom Trees
  • Feybreak Island Trees
  • Desert Trees

As a general formula, any 'rougher' trees that appear more rugged or bony usually yield Hardwood. Sekurajima Island is accessible in the northeast section of the map, or the top left. Whereas Feybreak Island is more of an endgame location, it is recommended that you achieve at least Level 50 before travelling there. If you're feeling brave enough, head to the southern bank of Mount Obsidian and cross the water to reach Feybreak Island.

However, I discovered that Hardwood is also purchasable from the Wandering Merchant in the first Small Settlement that you are guided towards by the main mission. He is distinguishable by his red cloak and hat, and resides at the back of the camp, close to the main mission contact.

How to Make Hardwood

Alternatively, if you're feeling a bit exhausted and don't want to venture out into the unknown, you can construct the 'Wood Chopping Station II' which is unlocked in the technology tree after reaching Level 43. After building your station, you can manufacture Hardwood.

As a whole, Hardwood appears to be more of a late-game resource that requires a fair amount of progression before you can get your hands on it, so don't be dismayed if you can't find any at Level 10.
