Mutations in Palworld 1.0, Explained
Here's everything you need to know about mutations in Palworld 1.0.
Among many of the new additions to the Palworld 1.0 release is a new breeding mechanic called mutations. By pursuing mutations, you are outfitting your party and base with the most powerful pals possible, making end-game content much easier to pursue than if you were to find just normal monsters in the wild.
Here is an explainer on mutations in Palworld 1.0 and how to get the most out of this mechanic.
How to Get Mutations in Palworld 1.0
As mentioned above, mutations are a new breeding mechanic in Palworld 1.0 that gives pals some new powerful passive abilities. You will know your pal is mutated by the egg name when it is laid, and they will always hatch as an alpha pal with a powerful attack and IVs of at least 90.
When it comes to actually getting the mutations, it’s all a numbers game, and the odds are very low (estimated at below 1% chance for a basic breeding). There is no way to guarantee that the egg you get is mutated, but you can increase the odds by putting particular cakes in your breeding farm, which are unlocked in the technology tree.
- Vegetable Cake (level 47) - Doesn’t increase mutation chance in itself, but allows multiple eggs to be laid, giving you more shots at a mutation.
- 8 Flour
- 8 Tomato
- 7 Lettuce
- 8 Egg
- 4 Honey
- Extravagant Vegetable Cake (level 60) - Makes a mutation more likely (estimated at 3%), and talents grow more easily.
- 12 Flour
- 8 Cotton Candy
- 10 Potato
- 6 Onion
- 8 Carrot
- Special Cake (level 74) - Doesn’t increase mutation chance, but allows for multiple passives to be passed on from the parents, so use it when you are breeding pals that already have mutations to pass it to their offspring.
- 20 Flour
- 8 Caramel Cotton Candy
- 15 Milk
- 15 Egg
- 2 Mammorest Meat
Using any of the above cakes in your breeding farm will slightly increase your chances of mutations in your hatched pals, but keep in mind that this is all an RNG game. You may have to spend quite a while breeding your pals before you get your first mutation.
