Aion 2: Which Faction Should You Choose? (Elyos or Asmodians)
Elyos or Asmodians? Here's which one to pick!
Your faction choice in Aion 2 determines which side of Atreia you represent. At the start of your journey, you need to choose between the Elyos and Asmodians, each with different maps, servers, and vibe.
Making this choice can feel quite confusing, espeically if you don't know the consequences. So, to help you pick, here’s a complete guide that explains everything about the Factions, their differences, and which one you should choose.
Factions in Aion 2, Explained
There are two factions in Aion 2, namely Elyos and Asmodians. The biggest differences between the Elyos and Asmodians are their environments, storylines, faction identity, and faction-related gameplay and not than their combat abilities or skills.
Both sides can use the same eight classes and do not grant faction-exclusive combat bonuses or different class buffs. Below, we’ve provided a complete breakdown of all the differences between the two factions to help you clarify any doubts.
Story & Progression Difference
The Elyos Faction represents the brighter, light-aligned side of Atreia. Choosing Elyos also means experiencing the game's opening story and regional content from the Elyos perspective. Your quests, locations, NPCs, and other faction-related elements are designed around their side of the world.
The Asmodians represent the darker Faction of Atreia. The map will have harsher environments and darker themes. Like the Elyos, the Asmodians have their own regional content and story perspective. Choosing them lets you experience the conflict and history of Atreia from the opposite side.
Default Wings Difference
Your character's default wings also vary by faction choice. If you choose Elyos, you will receive white wings, while if you pick Asmodians, you get darker-colored wings.
NOTE: This does not affect your character's combat performance or overall progression, and is just an aesthetic change.
Field Boss Differences
Each faction has its own set of field bosses that appear within its territory. The bosses can differ in their names, locations, achievements, and associated titles depending on which faction you play.
So, if you want specific boss-related titles, you need to defeat the bosses associated with your own faction. However, these differences do not provide any advantage over the other.
Crafted Equipment Differences
Certain crafted equipment uses different names for Elyos and Asmodians, even when the two versions are equal. The faction-specific versions retain the same tier, stats, recipe requirements, materials, and Kinah cost.
So, if you want to copy someone’s build from the opposite faction, don’t rely solely on the equipment's name. Instead, compare its tier and stats to make sure you are looking at the corresponding item.
NOTE: The Faction choice affects your world experience. However, it does not determine how powerful your character can become.
Which Faction Should You Choose in Aion 2?
There is no universally better Faction in Aion 2. Since Elyos and Asmodians share the same classes and core combat systems, the best choice depends primarily on your preferred story, environment, community, and PvP.
If you are playing with friends, the easiest decision is to choose the same faction and server as your group. This is important because faction choice affects your ability to participate in faction-specific activities together. However, if you are a solo player, your decision becomes much simpler. Pick the side whose world and story you find more appealing.
Can You Change Factions in Aion 2?
Faction choice is permanent for your character in Aion 2. Once you select a faction, you cannot transfer that character to the opposing faction.
However, if you want to experience both sides, you can create a separate character on a different server belonging to the other faction. You can create up to four free characters, so choose your faction carefully and keep the available slots in mind.
