Aniimo: How to Play With Friends
It's time to squad up!
Pawprint Studio's open-world creature-catching RPG, Aniimo, has officially launched on consoles and PC, with a mobile release scheduled for later this month. As thousands of players are hopping in to explore the vast world of Idyll with their adorable companion, their newfound experiences can be best enjoyed as a solo player, with their friends, or fellow Pathfinders.
Aniimo has multiplayer functionalities for Pathfinders to engage with, and they have unique features, but also some drawbacks. So, let's dig into the multiplayer modes for Aniimo to make your journey in Idyll worth enjoying with strangers and friends alike.
How to Play Co-Op with Friends in Aniimo
Firstly, Aniimo's multiplayer allows all Pathfinders to team up with three other players on their dedicated server by letting them join your world. Cross-server play is therefore not available for Aniimo, so ensure that your friends are playing or log into the same server as the host.
Most importantly, Pathfinders must progress with the game's main story to unlock the Friends feature, in which they can start inviting their friends using their in-game name, note, or UID, the latter of which is found at the bottom right of the screen.
The hosting Pathfinder can therefore use the game's Party feature to add their friends to join the lobby for multiplayer and co-op sessions, which supports voice chat and cross-platform play, but only after the friends accepted the friend request.
It's important to mention that its multiplayer mode is limited to four players per lobby, and as such, you cannot encounter or engage with other Pathfinders in the open world except at outposts, campfires, RV parks, and social hubs.
Additionally, any progression made in multiplayer or co-op sessions is limited to the host's world, and this also applies if you get invited to join another Pathfinder's world.
As for what activities they can enjoy in co-op sessions, this includes exploration and challenging the overworld bosses together to share the rewards and catch Aniimos in the host's world.
Aniimo also features social hubs for other Pathfinders to join in multiple public spots across Idyll where they can hang out with other players, battle, make necessary purchases, hatch eggs, and trade goods and other items with fellow players.
Lastly, regarding the PvEvP mode, Egg Heist, this multiplayer mode supports three players where the host and their party members venture out to the Lost Isles, where they can explore the area for highly rare eggs.
However, to participate in the Egg Heist, the Host must be a Veteran Pathfinder to experience the mode, but until then, they can enjoy the other multiplayer/co-op activities available in Aniimo.
