Moonlight Peaks: How To Unlock Recipes
Blood sausage, anyone?
As with any farming sim out there, farming is usually a means to an end. In some cases, players are focused on pure profit. Whereas others tend to see these crops less as assets and more as ingredients capable of coming together as a scrumptious meal.
If you're one of the latter, then you may be a little thrown by Moonlight Peaks, as there's no Queen of the Sauce on your TV set to teach you recipes, and instead, you'll need to figure out alternate means of unlocking killer recipes.
You'll start off with some recipes, but if you want more, read on and find out how to add them to your cookbook.
How To Unlock Recipes In Moonlight Peaks
Unlocking recipes in Moonlight Peaks can be done one of two ways. One asks the player to explore and passively find recipes. Whereas the other asks the player to pay for the privilege.
Players can unlock recipes one at a time by exploring the map and digging at random dig spots, as these will occasionally provide the player with recipes. As far as we can tell, these are governed by RNG, and there is no way to control what recipe you get at any given time.
Then second, the player can also unlock recipes via Cookbooks. These are purchased via Coffee and Coffins, the Cafe in the south-east of town.
Upon purchase of these cookbooks, the player instantly gains access to a selection of recipes, all of which tend to be themed. For example, you can purchase a Sushi Cookbook and a 'Cooking for Vampires' cookbook.
Here is a quick list of the cookbooks that can be purchased within your first month in-game, along with what you can expect to pay:
- Starter Cookbook - 750 Gold
- Sushi Cookbook - 1,500 Gold
- Cooking For Vampires - 2,500 Gold
- Mana Cookbook - 2,500 Gold
It is also worth noting that some of the recipes that account for the 144 total in-game are recipes that effectively allow you to craft ingredients needed for more complex recipes. Such as Sugar, Rice, and Wheat, which can all be made using a mill.
Best Machines/Items To Craft For Cooking
To make a lot of the meals in-game, you will need to take the time to craft machines that allow you to gather these ingredients. Getting these blueprints takes time and is largely linked to main quest progression, so be sure to try and check off your to-do list as frequently as possible.
Assuming you're doing just that, here are some farm essentials that you should focus on making if you want to be a chef extraordinaire:
