Star Wars Zero Company: Scoundrel Class Guide - Playstyle, Best Combinations, & More

Here's how to build the Scoundrel Class in SWZC!

Updated 3 min read

Scoundrel is one of the eight class specs you can choose for your operators in Star Wars Zero Company. Unlike Scout, which generates resources for the whole squad, the Scoundrel's job is turning those resources into a guaranteed kill for someone else.

So, to help you get the most out of this class, this guide walks you through all the important builds, playstyle and everything you would need for the best Scoundrel class build in Star Wars Zero Company.

Star Wars Zero Company Scoundrel Class, Explained

The Scoundrel is your squad's opportunist, built to manufacture guaranteed critical hits rather than deal consistent damage of its own. Where the Assault forces its way into an opening by charging straight at the enemy, the Scoundrel finds one from a distance and tags the target as Vulnerable so whoever hits it next scores a critical hit no matter what.

The Scoundrel class that thrives on angles and disruption rather than standing and trading shots, and its whole skillset, i.e. every ability either sets someone else up or piggybacks on their attack. So, if you like playing a character who quietly decides which enemy dies next without even holding the biggest gun, the Scoundrel should be your go-to specialization.

How To Play Scoundrel Class in Star Wars Zero Company

The core playstyle of the Scoundrel class is setup first, damage second. You get three Action Points per turn, and with the Scoundrel you should generally spend most of them on getting into position and applying Identify Weakness on high value targets.

You need to work your way to a flanking angle before committing anything. Once you're in range, apply Identify Weakness to whichever enemy your hardest-hitting teammate is about to target. This is the single most important decision you will make each turn, since a wasted guaranteed crit on a low-value target is a missed opportunity.

Use Easy Mark when the Advantage cost is worth it relative to what else your squad needs that turn. Do this only when you don't have anything better to spend Advantage on. You can depend on the Scoundrel's Instinct passive when you're forced into a fight against armored targets. Because the Scoundrel is lightly armored, reposition out of direct fire once you've done your job for the turn.

Best Build Combination for Scoundrel Class

Best Talent Specialization

The best talent for the Scoundrel is Cold Blooded, which stacks Vicious and guarantees a Critical Hit on your next attack. Since a Pistol lets you fire multiple times in a turn if you stay put, Cold Blooded is a great way to turn that weapon's lower base damage into something that actually threatens a kill.

You can choose utility alternatives rather than pure performance, with Espionage or Thievery. The former earns bonus Intels on completing a combat mission, while the latter helps you earn bonus Credits for mission completion.

NOTE: Keep in mind that neither Thievery nor Espionage stacks if more than one operator has the same talent equipped in your squad.

Best Secondary Specialization

For the Scoundrel Class, we recommend the Sharpshooter as your Secondary Specialization. It's the most natural pairing for this class in SWZC. The Sharpshooter's attacks are exactly the kind of high-value hit you want landing on a target you've just made Vulnerable with Identify Weakness.

AbilityEffects
Precision Shot (Ultimate)Fires a calculated blaster shot that always hits
Zero In (Standard)Sets up a position for accurate shooting and gains stacks of Lethal, increasing Chance-to-Hit and Critical Chance
Pick Them Off (Passive)Increases Overwatch Chance-to-Hit and Overwatch Damage
Sharpshooter Training (Passive)+10% Chance-to-Hit on all Blaster Attacks
Sharpshooter Class Abilities

NOTE: You can choose to stack more crit-primed shots by picking the Gunslinger specialization. The Scout is also worth considering if you want to double down fully on control and Advantage generation over raw damage.

Best Weapon for Scoundrel Class

The Blaster Pistol is the best weapon for the Scoundrel because it matches the class opportunistic playstyle. You can reposition to a flank, apply Identify Weakness, and still get a shot off , that too all in the same turn. The Blaster Rifle is a reasonable alternative if you want to deal medium-range damage to back up the class's setup role.
