Star Wars Zero Company: How to Increase Bond (Complete Bond Guide)
How close is your squad?
Star Wars Zero Company has a variety of different gameplay mechanics that can affect your squad and the way combat unravels. Arguably, one of the most important mechanics in the game is Bond, a mechanic held between two characters that develops over time.
Bond can be influenced in several different ways, both for better and for worse. Developing positive Bond unlocks new combat strengths and potential for involved characters, so it should be a priority focus as much as possible. If you're wondering how Bond works in Star Wars Zero Company and every way in which it can be affected, all relevant information has been included in the guide below.
What is Bond in Star Wars Zero Company & Why Does it Matter?
In Star Wars Zero Company, Bond is a mechanic shared between Hawks and any of their Operatives, or between two Operatives. Bond is shaped through completing missions and conversations held around the Den, with the possibility of both increasing between two individuals, or decreasing based on outcomes.
The more two characters participate on missions together, the stronger their Bond will become. Once two characters accumulate a certain amount of Bond, their Bond Level will increase. This opens up the possibility for these two characters to then undergo a Cross Training session.
Cross Training enables you to choose one of three different training types, each one offering an increase/bonus to abilities for combat. These training types can range from effects such as increasing Overwatch damage or critical hit chance to boosting Bond XP gained, and more. It may vary between each Bond/character pairing.
Then, once you reach the maximum Bond level, the two characters will unlock a new training type that enables them to learn a permanent passive ability.
However, just as you can earn Bond, you can also lose Bond with your squadmates. Throughout the story you will need to make decisions as well as control the battlefield. Decisions can impact your crew as some may agree with your choices, while other may disagree. Bond can also decrease if you happen to catch allies in an AOE attack or accidentally select them as your target instead of the enemy - and to be honest? fair.
Certain character pairings throughout your squad may be hostile, resulting in tension and shaky Bond. This may also impact the story in multiple ways, depending on if you can develop the Bond in a positive way, or if it will be the downfall of your team.
And then if a character's Bond gets low enough, they may straight up walk awa from the squad altogether, permanently leaving and becoming unrecruitable for the rest of the game. Other than permadeath via taking 3 injuries, this is the only way in which characters can be permanently lost.
