Big Walk: How to Complete the Blindfolded Symbol Match Puzzle
Grab your megaphone; it's time to yell across a glass room.
There are two puzzles in Big Walk that make use of the Golden Head item. This accessory acts like a blindfold, making it impossible for the player wearing it to see any details around them. You can still see the shift of colour and interact with items (if you can find them), but the point of the head is to solve a puzzle while being directed by another player.
This guide is for the more difficult Golden Head puzzle, which requires you to find the matching puzzle pieces for three squares on display in a glass room.
Where to Find the Blindfolded Puzzle Match Game in Big Walk
Map coordinates: 3930, 2100
The puzzle match challenge with the Golden Head is to the west of the Green Tower and its associated chairlift station. From there, drop down from the mountain into the rocky terrain of the forest. The puzzle is in a building with glass walls, anchored into the side of a hill, with two staircases on either side.
I recommend bringing a megaphone with you for this puzzle. Unlike the obstacle course puzzle that uses a Golden Head, there are no gaps in the glass for you to speak to your companion through. The proximity chat doesn't have a large range, and they will struggle to hear your directions once they are on the walkways.
My friend and I noticed that he couldn't hear me well if I tried to speak to him from anywhere other than the gate.
How to Solve the Golden Head Puzzle Match Challenge in Big Walk
There are three walls inside the glass room, each displaying a puzzle piece. Next to those displays are slots for a player to hang a matching puzzle piece.
While the first display is near the top of the blue ramp and fairly easy for the blindfolded player to reach with verbal direction, the other two are on the third level of the room.
Where to Find the Puzzle Pieces
To the right of the turnstile entrance, there is a display with nine puzzle pieces. The player wearing the Golden Head should enter and walk over to that side of the room. They will need to jump up onto the green platform to interact with any of the nine puzzle squares displayed on the rack.
To find the puzzle pieces that match those on display, the player inside the room should remove each one from the display and hold it up until the player outside the room confirms that it's one of the three pieces.
How to Direct the Player
Using the megaphone, stand by the gate to guide the blindfolded player on where to turn and when to start or stop walking. If you need a better vantage point to check their progress, let them know you're moving and ask them to stand still for a moment so they don't walk off the edge of any platform.
While you can be heard most loudly from the gate, the megaphone means they can still hear you at other points in the room if you're on the stairs. However, you'll be extremely quiet to them, so be sure to repeat your directions and not just say things once if you don't think they've been heard.
Keep your directions simple. Use "turn to the left/right", "walk forward/until you hit the wall", "stop", and "jump".
Don't overcomplicate things with angles by trying to get them to turn 90 degrees; they can't see what's in front of them and are more likely to turn too little or too much. They will need to walk up each ramp to get higher; make sure they aren't walking by the ledge.
Each time the masked player reaches one of the green displays, they may need to move around a little to "see" the interaction point and place the square in its slot. Once they're done, just have them jump off the platform and direct them back to the rack on the ground floor.
When the puzzle is complete, direct them back to the gate so they can exit, and remove the Golden Head from them.
