Big Walk: How to Complete the Heavy Ball Puzzle (Purple Tunnel Area)

This is not a short journey.

Updated 3 min read

When you're ready to explore the additional content hidden in Big Walk, there are seven puzzle challenges in the southwest corner of the map, beyond the purple tunnel. You won't be able to access these puzzles until you've unlocked the underground tunnels, and they're best left as the last set of challenges you complete in the game.

Purple Heavy Ball Puzzle Location in Big Walk

Map coordinates 3740, 1620

While this puzzle is called the "purple" heavy ball or golf puzzle by Big Walk players, the platforms at the start and end are blue. "Purple" refers to the locational colour; this puzzle is one of the seven puzzles beyond the purple tunnel, and that helps differentiate it from the first heavy ball puzzle with the same starting point by the red tower (marked 1 on the map above).

How to Solve the Purple Heavy Ball Puzzle

Your aim is to get to the platform at map coordinates 4260, 1860 (marked 2 on the map above). To do this, you'll need to pass the ball between yourself and your other party members until you reach the second platform. You cannot move while holding the ball.

Face north (towards the original heavy ball puzzle's end platform), and take the mountain path to your right to begin your big walk.

On the top of the path, before the lantern point, turn right and continue up the mountain.

Continue following the path up the mountain. You're aiming for the chairlift boarding/exiting point at the top, so just keep to the path and follow it around to the left.

You'll reach the edge of the mountain and find your path somewhat obstructed by a large rock formation. You will need to carefully take the ball from each other here because the slant of the mountain may make your Walkling slip backwards a bit.

Manoeuvre yourselves over the rocks and around the corner to the left.

Continue to the left, following the curve of the mountain. Try to stick to the path as much as you can while hiking up the mountain. Trees and branches may get in your way, but just move around them.

Night will fall during your walk. When it does, take a break so no one falls off the mountain with the ball. At the top of the path, head to the right, towards the chairlift.

You can board the chairlift with the heavy ball in Big Walk. Have the player with the ball stand near the edge of the platform where the chair will arrive, giving them more time to board. They need a player on the same chair to avoid any issues when disembarking.

Ride the chairlift to the south. Do not drop the ball. Just don't click anything after boarding.

Exit the chairlift at the final station to the south. You'll need to drop the ball to get off the chair, so wait until the chair starts to turn, drop the ball, and immediately get off. As long as the other player gets off when you drop the ball, one of you should be able to grab it before it rolls anywhere.

Resume passing the ball to each other until you reach the entrance of the purple tunnel.

Pass through the purple tunnel.

On the other side of the purple tunnel, follow the path up the hill to the north.

You're aiming for the flagpole on the blue platform, which is on the land above the purple tunnel. You can only get up to the flagpole from the south side of the tunnel.

Climb the short set of stairs and put the ball down on the stand to complete the puzzle.

Be sure to collect the purple gourd! You'll need it to complete the green ring building by the map room if you're doing the additional content after the main ending of Big Walk.
