Mistfall Hunter: August 12 Live Update Patch Notes
RIP Blackarrow
Mistfall Hunter has launched pretty successfully into early access, with lots of eyes on the dark fantasy extraction looter. With player vs player combat occupying such a huge and impactful position in the game, Mistfall Hunter relies heavily on good balancing - which is exactly what's going on.
There have already been multiple patches pushed out since the release of the game, highlighting the commendable work ethic of the devs and willingness to implement community feedback. Here are all the changes that arrived with August 12's Live Update.
Soul Harvest - New Gameplay
Dew and the Gyldhunters are launching a special operation to mend the Web of Fate. It's the player's objective to stop Velgr attempts to create a False God by defeating mutated creatures warped by Soul Cocoons, and performing a purification prayer to return their souls to the Web of Fate.
Soul Harvest isn't active in every game; there's only a chance to trigger the Soul Cocoon spawns, which increases as the game goes on and as the Gyldenmist spreads further.
If you pick up a Soul Cocoon, you can see other Soul Cocoon locations on the map, but all other players will be notified of your location.
You can deposit 2 Soul Cocoons into the Fate Altar, which spawns later in the match, to begin the Soul Harvest ritual. Alternatively, you can deliver a Soul Cocoon to Richie, the in-game merchant, to unlock a special reward for your whole team.

Class Balancing and Optimizations
Blackarrow
Blackarrow has received some considerable nerfs, with cooldown nerfs to Mysticfly Arrow, Steel Arrow, and Dodge Power Shot combined with a reduction in solo PvP damage. It's not amazing news for our favourite archer.
- Increased the cooldown of [Mysticfly Arrow].
- Increased the cooldown of [Steel Arrow].
- Slightly increased the cooldown of [Dodge Power Shot].
- Greatly reduced the cooldown of [Sonic Arrow].
- Reduced Blackarrow's PvP damage multiplier in solo mode; PvE damage remains unchanged.
- Fixed an issue where Blackarrow's head would disappear under specific circumstances when equipped with the Forsaken Skeleton outfit.
- Fixed an issue where arrows fired by Blackarrow's [Dodge Rapid Shot] skill incorrectly carried impact.
- Fixed an issue where Blackarrow's abnormal displacement distance when jumping after a side dodge would persist under specific circumstances.
Sorcerer
The Sorcerer is receiving a mixed bag of changes, which are likely to tip the scales more unfavorably with a damage reduction for solo PvP.
- Slightly reduced the Fire Elemental Reaction DMG from the [Elemental Arcana] talent.
- Slightly reduced the damage of [Fire Bolt], while adjusting its damage distribution to increase direct damage and reduce damage-over-time (DoT).
- Slightly increased the Energy recovery of [Fire Bolt] when cast without full channeling.
- Adjusted the damage distribution of [Flameblade] to increase direct damage and reduce damage-over-time (DoT); total damage remains unchanged.
- Increased the cooldown of [Crystal Icebolt].
- Reduced the impact caused by [Deep Freeze]; knockback distance remains unchanged.
- Slightly increased the Energy recovery speed granted by the [Survival Instinct] talent.
- Slightly increased the lightning activation speed of [Thunderstrike].
- Slightly increased the Energy recovery of [Thunderstrike] when cast without full channeling.
- Optimized [Thunderstrike]'s skill indicator to now clearly display the exact lightning strike location.
- Reduced Sorcerer's PvP damage multiplier in solo mode; PvE damage remains unchanged.
- Fixed an issue where the [Elemental Surge] talent state would fail to consume properly if Sorcerer - Elemental missed with the [Flameblade] skill.
Shadowstrix
Similar to the Sorcerer, Shadowstrix is also receiving a range of changes that shift their power to other areas of their kit.
- Slightly reduced the Super Armor duration of [Spinning Slash].
- Slightly increased the interaction speed reduction from the [Sleight of Hand] talent.
- Increased the cooldown of [Phantom Shift].
- Greatly reduced the Physical Piercing granted by the [Battle Frenzy] talent.
- Reduced the cooldown of [Inspiring Impale].
- Slightly increased the duration of the [Wound Accumulation] talent, and reduced the number of stacks required to trigger detonation to 8.
- Slightly increased the damage bonus percentage of the [Aftereffect] talent.
Withered Knight
The Withered Knight has received a few quality-of-life changes that would cause abilities to interact in ways that were unintended.
- Fixed an issue where Withered Knight - Polearm and Shield's [Rainbow Piercer] skill would fail to enter cooldown properly if interrupted mid-cast.
- Fixed an issue where Withered Knight - Polearm and Shield's [Charged Dash] skill would experience abnormal Energy consumption when no talent was configured.
- Fixed an issue where Withered Knight - Polearm and Shield would abnormally remain in a charged state after cancelling the shield-raise stance.
Seer
RICHIE NO!
- Fixed an issue where the Reverent Seer's [Punishment Rune] skill could lock onto Richie the Merchant.
Tactical Items:
- Increased the inventory stack limit of [Eye of True Sight] from 1 to 2.
Damage Over Time (DoT):
- Slightly reduced the frequency of damage ticks; total damage remains unchanged.
Gem Affixes
- Increased the cooldown of the high-tier anti-interrupt effect from the [Eloquence] affix from 10 seconds to 15 seconds.
Critical Issue Fixes
- Fixed client hitching, stuttering, and crash issues occurring under certain scenarios.
- Fixed an issue where warehouse items would occasionally disappear from view while preparing gear out of a match.
- Fixed an issue where Einherjar mode could not be activated if the remaining durability of the Dried Flower Knot fell below the expected consumption amount.
- Fixed an occasional issue where getting interrupted while looting would prevent the player from attacking.
- Fixed a visual UI display issue that occurred when upgrading the warehouse to Level 13.
- Fixed an issue where cosmetics intended to be visible only to yourself and your teammates would abnormally become visible to enemies under specific circumstances.
*In this update, we've optimized server performance and deployed fixes for select server-side lag issues. We are continuously investigating the remaining hiccups and will keep a close eye on network stability moving forward.
Additionally, we've optimized our ping display logic to provide a much more accurate, real-time reflection of your actual in-match input latency.
Overall, it's very impressive how many bug fixes and balance changes Mistfall Hunter has pushed out so far. They seem to be decently in tune with the current game state, which is a huge issue across live-service games - there's nothing worse than developers who don't play their own game and therefore lack knowledge of what's overpowered and what needs buffing.
Throughout their patch notes, Mistfall Hunter is reassuring players that they are consistently monitoring gameplay quality and will continue to implement changes as and when they are needed.
Check out the Official Patch Notes for a full list of the smaller bugs removed.
May we see each other in the myst, hunter.
