Mistfall Hunter: Elite Captain Guide
Nothing too elite about this guy!
The Mistfall Hunter mission objectives can sometimes lack sufficient detail or direction, which can stump players as they trek across Hallowgrove and Brandrgarde. Most enemies have no health bar or label that allows players to figure out which monstrous creation they actually are.
One of these confusing questlines is the Secrets - Evil Purge mission. As a general rule, Mistfall Hunter objectives aren't as complex as they might initially appear. If you're finding yourself stuck, try to think in more simple terms - often, the answer is right in front of you.
How to Complete the Evil Purge Mission
The Evil Purge mission, part of the Secrets questline, tasks you with eliminating the Elite Captain in Hallowgrove Chaos mode. Unfortunately, there's no designated location for this enemy, and no immediate distinction that makes him stand out from all the other ominous enemies.
For the second part of the mission, you'll need to make your way to the Ancestor Tower near the middle of the Hallowgrove map.
Once you enter the Ancestor Tower, you'll need to stand on the centre pedestal to activate the lift. To bring the lift back down again, interact with the lever just to the side of it. After the lift stops, you'll need to ascend another flight of steps to reach the objective.
On the top floor, you'll find a peaceful Harpy who won't attack you as long as you leave her alone. Interact with the table to complete the objective.
How to Kill the Elite Captain
Now it's time to identify the Elite Captain - but here's the hard part: he looks just like a normal enemy. These are the features you should be looking out for:
- Tall and lanky enemies
- Skeletal in nature
- Can have a bow and arrow or a sword
- Relatively big health bar
- Unstoppable attacks (his outline turns red)
You won't need to adopt any special strategy to defeat this enemy, aside from being cautious of his unstoppable attacks and making sure you dodge his chain attacks. Just treat him like a normal skeleton, and turn his to a pile of bone dust.
Here's a closer-up picture of the Elite Captain ... returned to his rightful state. He'll be just a little taller than the player model and can be found across the entire map, with no specific spawn area.
If you're exploring normally on Hallowgrove Chaos mode, you'll definitely meet many of these beefed-up skeletal friends. I actually found three Elite Captains instantly upon spawning in, as Chaos mode increases the spawn rate of advanced mobs and enemies.
The Elite Captain isn't actually that elite, just a normal skelly.
