Palworld: How to Get Ancient Civilization Cores & All Recipes

Ancient Civilization Cores are VERY rare, yet extremely valuable - here are all the ways you can grab them.

Updated 4 min read

Ancient Civilization Cores are...a special item in Palworld, to say the least. As one of the rarest resources in the game, these high-tech cubes are required to craft powerful items, so be careful how you spend them. Bearing a stark resemblance to the new Ancient Ruins, the cores emanate a similar, cyan-coloured glow that is emitted from the isolated Ruins across Palagos Islands, which grant us exclusive schematics after hacking their terminals.

Ancient Civilization Cores can only be obtained in a handful of ways, with even the item description itself admitting that they are 'nearly impossible' to acquire. I'm not sure about you guys, but I'm ALWAYS up for a challenge, especially when the odds are especially pitiful. Here's everything you need to know about how to get Ancient Civilization Cores in Palworld, including how to obtain them and all the crafting recipes that include them.

Raid Bosses

You'll need to summon Raid Bosses by plonking the correlating Slab in a Summoning Altar at your base to be in with a chance at grabbing yourself an Ancient Civilization Core. But make sure you're prepared before constructing the Summoning Altar; Raid Bosses have a notorious tendency to destroy buildings in your base, demolishing your hard work, hopes, and dreams in the process.

However, Palworld 1.0 does sufficiently prompt you with warnings and an option to spawn a temporary raid arena upon completion of the altar - a great option to protect the integrity of your base and your hardworking Pals.

Despite your plans for the inevitable wreckage, Raid Bosses are insanely strong and not designed to fall easily, especially by your lone efforts. I would suggest loading your base to the brim with your most powerful Pals, but prepare yourself for at least some of them to fall in the fight.

Raid Bosses often have access to huge AoE spells that instantly eliminate your Pals with little room for counterplay. Bellanoir is the first boss you'll encounter, and she's definitely the easiest to consistently farm for the chance of Ancient Civilization Cores to drop.

Oil Rigs

Most Palworld players might have spotted THOSE dark structures situated deep in the ocean, looming over the Palpagos Islands - and yes, their ominous vibe definitely checks out. Because once you make your way to these isolated constructs, you'll be met with fierce human resistance.

Battle your way through assault rifles, cannons, and machine guns to find the main chest, and be in with a chance of bagging yourself an Ancient Civilization Core.

The main chest will appear much larger than the ones you might be used to, and is easily distinguishable by the bright lights glaring outwards, kind of similar to floodlights ... but much smaller. It's not a guaranteed chance that you'll receive an Ancient Civilization Core from an Oil Rig, so cross your fingers and touch wood that you get lucky.

Oil Rigs can be scary, and very intimidating. Here's my top tip for eliminating those big artillery turrets quickly: approach them, crouch down, and squeeze against the turret so that it has a hard time targeting you; lastly, find and hack the blue monitor on the base of the turret, forcing it to instantly implode. Regardless, you'll still need to deal with the pesky humans.

I would advise bringing along a Pal that specialises in AoE damage to eliminate groups of enemies at once, increasing your success rate tenfold.

Pal Expeditions

The Pal Expedition Station becomes unlockable in the technology tree at level 22, and allows you to send your inactive Pals on specialised missions to obtain lucrative resources for your base. With an extremely light cost of only 20 Wood, 20 Stone, and 5 Paldium Fragments, you should aim to establish your Pal Expedition Station as soon as possible; it's easily the most valuable method of utilising your inactive Pals.

100 Pals can be deployed on an expedition at once, with more rewards being granted for higher firepower amongst your squad. New expeditions will appear after defeating Tower Bosses across the Palagos Islands, with each one increasing in difficulty and requiring specific types of Pals to embark on the mission.
