Palworld: How To Unlock The World Tree
Here's how to get to the World Tree area in Palworld 1.0.
Palworld’s 1.0 update is finally here, and there are an enormous number of new features and changes. One of the biggest additions is the new World Tree area, a hidden island that’s inaccessible by typical travel.
Yes, you heard that right. You can’t just swim or fly onto the island right away like previous new areas. Instead, you have to complete a quest and obtain a special Pal just to set foot on it. Everyone is surely eager to get to the World Tree since 1.0 dropped, so here’s a helpful guide on how to unlock this new area in Palworld.
How To Reach The World Tree In Palworld
You’ll find the entrance to the World Tree in the top left corner of your map, just northwest of the Astral Mountains. Unfortunately, it’s completely sealed off by a barrier, and interacting with the nearby terminal tells you that you need to find something to get past the mysterious energy.
The way to bypass the barrier blocking the World Tree is by catching the new Pal called Panthalus. This requires you to complete a bit of a lengthy quest, so make sure to follow along!
How To Catch Panthalus
Catching Panthalus in Palworld requires you to first visit this Deserted Islet and talk with an NPC who can point you in the right direction. This island is between Ice Wind Island, the Twilight Dunes, and the Astral Mountains.
Once you arrive, speak to the NPC with the large backpack who speaks of the remains of the humongous whale Pal Panthalus. Accept the quest he gives you, and he’ll hand over the schematic for the Echoing Flute.
Echoing Flute Schematic
To craft the Echoing Flute, you’ll need these four items:
- Marine Echobone
- Silent Echobone
- Seafoam Echobone
- Tidewind Echobone
All four material locations will appear on your map when you unlock this quest. You will need to use a Pal that knows how to fly or swim to reach some of these locations. Once you reach each area, walk up to the glowing yellow marker and select the ‘Pick Up’ button.
After you collect all four materials, head back to your base and craft the Echoing Flute at a Primitive Workbench. Now, you can head back to the Deserted Islet NPC and let him know you’ve finished crafting the flute. He will then allow you to start a boss battle with Panthalus.
Panthalus Boss Fight
This boss fight with Panthalus shouldn’t be too difficult if you’re around endgame level - which you should be when attempting to unlock the World Tree. Panthalus will fight back with some annoying wave and water attacks, so it’s best to use a flying Pal when battling the Legendary Ocean King.
Also, as a Water-type Pal, you’d find more success using an Electric-type flying Pal like Beakon. As long as your Pal is at a decently high level, or you have a powerful weapon, defeating Panthalus shouldn’t be difficult.
Once he’s down or at a low enough health, throw a Pal Sphere at Panthalus and catch him. That’s all there is to it!
Unlocking The World Tree
You will soon be teleported back to the Deserted Islet where you can speak with the NPC one more time to complete the quest. This will grant you a new quest called ‘To the World Tree.’
All you have to do now is fly or swim to the foot of the World Tree, reach the pedestal, interact with the altar, and choose to enter the World Tree. You now have complete access to the new World Tree area!
