Star Wars Zero Company: Assault Class Guide - Playstyle, Best Combinations, & More

Here's how to build the Assault Class in SWZC!

Updated 3 min read

Assault is one of the eight class specializations you can choose for your operators in Star Wars Zero Company. While choosing the class for your companion is the easy part, building it correctly to get actual value is the hard part. So, to help you with that, this guide walks you through all the important builds, playstyle and everything you would need for the best Assault class build in Star Wars Zero Comapny.

Star Wars Zero Company Assault Class, Explained

The Assault is a frontline fighter class that excels at helping your operators maneuver in battle to secure medium-to-close-range kills against targets hiding in cover. While the class fills a similar role as the Soldier, it focuses less on straight up gunplay and more on mobility.

Upon selecting this, you get the Bull Rush ability, which is capable of knocking enemies off ledges for instant kills. If you want your operator to have more frontline action along with high burst damage and mobility, then Assault would be the go-to specialization.

How To Play Assault Class in Star Wars Zero Company

The core playstyle of the Assault class is already clear from the skillset. You get three Action Points per turn, and those AP cover everything from movement and attacks to ability use. You should try to spend these APs for closing distance and create openings rather than trading shots from range.

Generally, when playing Assault, you should open by using Bull Rush to charge a target sitting in cover. This pushes it out of position and immediately sets up Strike the Flanks for a guaranteed +20% Critical Chance bonus against that now-exposed target.

Now you just need to follow up with blaster fire from your Repeater to capitalize on the crit chance and save Sweeping Salvo for the moment several enemies are grouped together as it Disorients the whole cone at once and doesn't cost any AP, so you can still move and shoot in the same turn.

From there, let a Scoundrel or Sharpshooter clean up the Exposed targets you've created while a Medic keeps you healed up. Unlike other classes in SWZC, the Assault's whole job is to create openings, and it's not built to finish every fight alone.

Best Build Combination for Assault Class

Best Talent Specialization

The best talent for the Assault Class is Grit, which applies stacks of Invulnerable and increases Max Health. You can upgrade this talent to gain more stacks per turn, since each stack of Invulnerable only absorbs one hit before it's consumed.

Another option worth considering is Fortitude, which increases your Defense while injured. As a frontline DPS, you will likely get downed at least once, which counts as an Injury, and Fortitude only kicks in once that happens. At Tier 4, it grants +6 Defense and also ignores the chance-to-hit penalty you would otherwise suffer while injured.

Best Secondary Specialization

For the Assault Class, we recommend the Soldier as your Secondary Specialization. Soldier continues to build on the Assault's melee kit with Brutal Strike and the Strength passive. It also gives you a powerful AoE skill Rocket Strike which you can use to weaken a group first and then finish targets off at melee range.

AbilityEffect
Rocket Strike (Ultimate)Fire a powerful rocket that explodes on impact, damaging all targets in the blast
Brutal Strike (Standard)Rush and strike a target, dealing Melee Damage and Dazing
Strength (Passive)Increases Melee Damage and increases the throw range of all Grenades
Armsmaster (Passive)Increases Blaster Damage and Grenade Damage by +2
Soldier Class Abilities
NOTE: If you prefer a more survivability and melee-oriented build then alternatively you can pick the Heavy specialization.

Best Weapon for Assault Class

A Repeater is the best choice for a frontline playstyle because it expends all remaining AP to deal higher damage. You can dive in with Bull Rush to close the gap, then unload the rest of your AP into a kill shot when using a Repeater. Also, the Blaster Rifle is a flexible alternative if you want to move and still fire without heavy AP commitment.
