Moonlighter 2: How to Beat Senda
Defeat the Prince of the Zephyr Fields!
Moonlighter 2 has three different worlds, each with two possible progression routes or sub-locations to explore during each run. Each location has its own end boss, with unique attack types and patterns, as well as potential environmental hazards. This means there are six different bosses you can encounter across your runs.
Senda is one of these six bosses, encountered at the end of the Aeolia world's Zephyr Fields location. Just like the other world bosses, the Senda fight can be extremely tough to get through if you do not know what to expect. This guide covers how to beat Senda in Moonlighter 2, including his attack patterns, phases of the fight, and which weapons can be beneficial to bring on a run where you plan to take Senda on in battle.
How to Beat Senda in Moonlighter 2
As the End Boss for the Zephyr Field location in the Aeolia world, Senda utilizes powerful wind attacks, for the most part. He creates fans that can apply pushback to your position on the stage through the wind they generate, as well as be thrown towards you as a damaging projectile.
The fans he generates can occupy part of the stage with rotating patterns, dealing damage to you if you make contact. On top of this, he can also move around himself and hit you with both projectiles and physical attacks through the blades on his arms. Essentially, with Senda you need to be able to keep your eye on multiple threats and time your dodge-rolls accordingly.
Senda Boss Fight Threats
- Terrain wind that can push you back/help displace you
- Fan projectiles that move around the area or are thrown at you, dealing damage
- Projectile bullets from Senda himself
- Physical attacks with his arm blades
Because Senda uses the fans and terrain wind to create distance between himself and your position, it is a good idea to upgrade your gun. You won't always be able to get in to deal close-ranged damage with your weapons, and having a strong gun enables you to weave in powerful blasts from range while you reposition for your next close-ranged combo.
Senda Boss Fight Progressions / Phases
Senda will open the fight with fans that create wind, pushing you back and creating distance between yourself and the boss. Move to the mid-range and use your gun weapon to fire all shots at Senda for some early damage whenever fans such as this are deployed.
During this time, fan projectiles will also be sent flying towards you, so you will need to move out of the way from each one and use your dodge-roll as needed. However, some of these fans will be thrown out in the purple, shadow-like color. Any object or projectile that is colored like this can be reflected back at the enemy.
Simply approach the projectile to meet it during its path, then hit the button prompt that pops up to send the fan right back at Senda, dealing more damage.
Once the fans disappear, Senda will begin moving around the map - this is your opportunity to now start weaving in your melee combos. He will also summon two large fans that rotate around the battle terrain in somewhat circular motions, so you will need to dodge them as needed too.
As he is being attacked, Senda will also charge up a spread of bullet-like projectiles that you will need to watch out for, as well as sometimes a dash, followed by a swing of his arms to damage you at close-range. If you can safely avoid these hazards, then these stages of the fight are where you can stack huge amounts of damage on the boss, so don't be afraid to play aggressively and seize the moment.
After a while, Senda will move to the center of the map and create a wind circle, before shooting beams out in a horizontical path across all angles. You will need to dodge these. After the intitial beams, he will continue firing his bullet projectiles. Use your gun to sneak in shots of damage between your dodge-rolls so that you are always chipping away at his health.
As you progress through the fight, the sky will turn from a night blue to a pink color as if it is entering dawn. Eventually, the square arena terrain will break off into a smaller circular section that will rise up into the dawn sky. This is the final phase of the fight.
Senda will continue to use his regular wind, circular fan, dash, and close-range attacks in repetition, so adapt to the patterns. Opt for aggressive melee damage whenever possible, and sneak in shots with your gun when you need to fight from range. Eventually, you should be able to wither Senda down enough to deliver the final blow and beat the boss once and for all.
Senda Rewards & Loot
After beating Senda, you will gain additional loot chests full of various Relics that you can bring back to your shop and sell. In addition to this, you will gain the material known as The King's Left Mask, a special drop only obtainable by defeating Senda.
Rare materials such as this can often be used to craft powerful weapon variations based on recipes you unlock from runs and character interactions. Specifically, it is needed to unlock the Aetherium Heart weapon once you have gained the recipe. This weapon is important, as it can be used to help free Masa, a character who is trapped in the second stage of The Gallery - Treasury Halls.
