Moonlighter 2: Perfect Pricing Guide
Easy money.
In Moonlighter 2, you take on the role of a young merchant who runs a town shop by day and explores dungeons by night, hunting for new relics to sell. Everything of importance will cost currency, including new weapon unlocks, weapon upgrades, health upgrades, and more - making your store just as crucial as exploration.
To build a strong customer base and keep cash flowing through your business, you’ll need to learn how to properly price your items. If you’re wondering how to find the perfect price for every item in Moonlighter 2, then this guide has all of the information you'll need.
What is Perfect Pricing in Moonlighter 2? Explained
When running your shop in Moonlighter 2, you will first need items known as Relics. These act as inventory for your store and are collected during your nighttime dungeon runs. The types of Relics are randomly generated each time and can be picked up from chests at the end of each stage.
Relics have four different rarities, ranging from common, rare, epic, and legendary. First, you need to place your Relics in your shop. When you are viewing shop Relics, you will be able to see four different price points, indicated by smiley faces. These range from cheap, fair, overpriced, and expensive.
The perfect pricing for an item is the exact price range to the dollar in which a fairly priced item can be sold at before it becomes overpriced. Ideally this is the optimal point that you always want to be selling these items at, because not only will you receive a happy sale from the customer, but you will also maximize the profit per sale.
Why Perfect Pricing is Worth It
During each day you run your shop in Moonlighter 2, you want to keep an eye on the reactions of customers. They will walk up, evaluate the items, and then react to them with one of the four emotions shown in the price chart.
If they react with sparkly yellow eyes and a smiling face, it means that they are happy with the Relics and it's rated as cheap. The smiley face is the fair pricing. The frowny face is overpriced, but they are still willing to buy it, so you'll still earn money for those purchases. And then lastly, that angry-looking face is expensive Relics, which means that customers will refuse to buy them. If you are getting those angry reactions, then you'll need to lower your prices enough until the item sells at least at the overpriced range.
While it may seem tempting to just simply slightly overprice everything so that you make more money off the sales and they still go through, this actually isn't the best technique. This is because while Relics still sell at the overpriced range, you don't actually get any bonuses or shop progression from them - you only get those passives and bonuses from sales that occur in the cheap or fair price ranges.
This is why perfect pricing is the optimal target to set for everything. Not only do you absolutely maximize your profits, but you maximize your profits while ensuring that you're still getting all of the bonuses of those happy sales at the same time.
How to Perfectly Price items in Moonlighter 2
To perfectly price items in Moonlighter 2, you simply need to type in the amount of money to the very single dollar for that specific Relic. It will then be listed at its perfect price. Once you discover a perfect price for an item, it will be marked with a green stamp over the smiling face pricepoint.
Simply hitting a fair price isn't enough, and overpricing is too much. You need to find the exact number in which the item is considered perfect in order to discover each price. This sounds easy, but perfect prices can only be discovered through constant adjustments of your listings.
This means that you constantly need to evaluate your shop customers and see how they react to each Relic. First of all, in order to discover a perfect price, you need to be within the fair price range, which is the close to smiling face, so make sure you get that marked down for each item.
This now gives you a starting price point that you can then push up further bit by bit, until you can narrow down when the price officially trickles over from 'fair' to 'overpriced'.
Once you can narrow it down the supposed perfect price by the tens, then you can simply keep adjusting the price range up and down by each dollar until you discover it. Obviously, this is easiest done with more common items, but everything has a perfect price range in this game. With more time spent selling, the more knowledge you will gain about selling each item.
