Moonlighter 2: How to Beat the Curator

Eye see you.

Updated 4 min read

In Moonlighter 2, every run will have at least one Mini Boss and one final End Boss that you will need to overcome before returning safely to town. Every world has its own unique End Boss, each of which has different mechanics and attack patterns to learn.

The Curator is the End Boss for The Gallery, making the most of the various electrified attacks you'll be more than familiar with by the time you reach this fight. If you're wondering how to beat the Curator End Boss in Moonlighter 2 and complete your run in The Gallery, then this guide will walk you through the process.

How to Beat The Curator in Moonlighter 2

The Curator is the End Boss for The Gallery world, equipped with a series of different electric attacks and arena terrain to match. You'll not only need to dodge his attacks and weave your own hits in but also keep an eye on where you are moving, as certain parts of the arena can also be a threat.

The main threats from the Curator himself are his windup rapid-fire attacks and sudden movement. The good news is that once you learn his movement timings/patterns, they become quite easy to react to. The other thing that you need to look out for is the floor. Certain parts of the arena will light up with electricity, damaging you if you touch them. In addition to that, they may also create sweeping lighting beams that you will need to dodge with a perfectly timed roll.

The curator also has multiple phases/rounds that you'll need to work through, with him deploying a shield that stops you from damaging him at certain intervals.

The Curator Boss Fight Threats

  • Windup attacks can rapidly deplete your health
  • Electric terrain can damage you
  • dodge roll timing is needed for moving electric beams
  • Shields providing immunity - you'll need to break through before being able to damage again.

The Curator Boss Fight Progressions

The Curator will open with a series of attacks that can put you in a bad position early if you let them hit. The good thing is that he does indicate the path that he will be taking in advance by highlighting it in electricity. This gives plenty of time for you to adjust your positioning or dodge roll out of the way and avoid taking damage.

After each one of these attacks, there is a small window to get a couple of hits in before you'll need to reposition for his next attack. Use this to stack consistent damage, and you will soon get a prompt to destroy a piece of the Curator's body. This will be highlighted for knockback with the black/purple glow, as seen in the screenshot below.

Once you have destroyed this piece, the Curator will reposition and deploy a shield. You will not be able to damage him again until this shield has been destroyed. He will deploy bombs that you can deflect back towards him. Run over to each one and line it up, then hit the knockback button to fling it at the Curator's Shield.

After a few hits, the shield will drop again, and you will now need to rinse and repeat the method of imposing enough damage to get the chance to knock a piece of the Curator's body out, then break through his shield again until he is eventually defeated.

If you fail to hit the bombs in time, they will detonate in a small AOE, causing damage. If you can't get to one in time, it's better to use dodge to stay away rather than attempting to rush up and secure the hit.

In the next part of the fight, the Curator will send out some shockwaves. You will need to jump over them with perfectly timed dodge rolls to avoid taking damage.

The third stage of the fight, the Curator will begin to use a mix of both shockwaves and wind-up attacks/charges. In addition to this, the arena terrain will also begin to form more intense patterns.

Here is the initial shockwave + terrain combination.

Then it should eventually swap into a series of beams that move across the arena. Four of them spin in a wheel, while the other two dart across your map. You need to avoid being caught between the spinning beams, as well as timing your dodge rolls to jump over the sweeping beams.

Finally, the Curator will begin throwing out a rapid series of deflectable bombs. You will need to line them up and hit them with your knockback attack to destroy the shields. There will also be a combined sweeping/spinning beam. Avoid getting trapped in this one when trying to line up the bombs!

That's it! you should now have successfully defeated the Curator after destroying this final shield piece. You may now claim your rewards and take the portal back to town.

The Curator Rewards & Loot

After defeating the Curator, you will be able to pick up rewards, involving two Relic chests to scavenge through, and a special item called Quantum Core. This is an item used to craft a more powerful gun option called the Blo-Beam Gun.
