Mortal Shell 2 : How To Get Into The Citadel

The Citadel awaits...

Updated 2 min read

Mortal Shell 2 has quite a few marquee areas on the map that just beg to be explored, and one such spot is the Citadel.

This is a fortress that players won't be able to access by simply walking through the door. The lever for the metal gate is missing. Meaning you'll need to track it down or find an alternative route inside.

But rest assured, if you want inside, we will get you in there one way or another. Here's how to get into the Citidel.

How To Find The Citadel Gate Lever

The Citidel Gate Lever is a reward for defeating a boss that is located right at the bottom of the pit located below the Gloomshade Grove Beacon.

Players will need to work their way down to the body of water at the bottom, where they will eventually come into contact with the Blood-cursed Lithopod.

This is essentially a boss version of the large rock crab enemies you'll have encountered by this point. I would at this point usually offer some strategy to take down the boss, but honestly, it's just a bigger version of the standard enemy with a big HP bar, but the exact same behavior.

It will find up for lunging attacks, and these can be blocked or parried with relative ease. So, provided you get down to the bottom with most of your healing items unused, you should be fine.

Beating them will award you the Citadel Gate Lever and 2,095 Gloom for your troubles.

At this point, you can return to the top of the Gloomshade Grove, and along the path right of the beacon, you'll come to the gate where you can stick this lever in and open the gate.

An Alternative Way Into the Citadel

Believe it or not, you can actually get into the Citadel without ever fighting the Bloodcursed Lithopod. There is a secret method found near the One Legged Wolf Tavern.

Spawn at the Beacon of the same name. Head left of the beacon, drop down to the wooden platform below, and then head up the nearby stairs, where you will eventually come to a pouch emitting black steam on a wall.

If you touch this, you'll be transported to the heart of the Citadel, allowing you to break out of your holding cell and explore the place without the need to get that lever.

What's In The Citadel?

Within the Citadel, you can find quite a lot of decent loot if you're willing to fight your way through the masses of knights to get it. You'll find a beacon in there. You'll find a Reverend Gland and lots of weapon upgrade materials.

But above all, the marquee attraction is the boss fight at the center with the Warden. This is a tough fight, but it will grant you a new Shell: Eredrim.
