This is a dream that is quite hard to attain in reality, as food in Palworld has a spoiling timer - which is especially annoying if you happen to pick up a random Epic food drop that grants insane combat stat bonuses.
You want to save the precious snack for an especially hard boss, right? Well, now you can do just that, without having to worry about your food expiring. Here's everything you need to know about how to stop your food from spoiling in Palworld thanks to the handy Guild Chest trick.
How to Stop Your Food From Spoiling in Palworld
The Guild Chest comes in clutch with an absolutely life-saving trick. These special chests are usually employed as a way to access your resources across multiple bases, without needing to travel to each specific base with a special delivery under your arm.
Depending on what level you are, you'll always need essential materials like Iron Ingots, Paldium Fragments, Nails, Wood, and Stone - you can simply place them in the Guild Chest and have your stash accessible from all corners of the Palpagos Islands, despite the obscurity of your base location.
It's very important to be selective about what you place in the Guild Chest, as it will fill up incredibly quickly, so be sure to prioritise your most in-demand materials.
Usually, you'll place any food items you have in either a Cool Box or a Feed Box to keep them fresh before your hungry Pal workers gobble up their snacks. However, it was recently discovered that placing perishables in a Guild Chest completely removes their expiration timer, eliminating any expiry concerns and the need to have a Cooling-Proficient Pal in your base.
This is the PERFECT way to store your high-level food items that grant bonuses which you might want to save until later in the game; it sucks having to pop an unneeded 20% damage buff, lest the food item expires and disappears.
The Guild Chest Trick also means that you don't have to set up an advanced food system at every base you construct, which can be time-consuming. Allocating Planting, Water, and Gathering Pals to a base can infringe on the amount of Coal produced from a dedicated Mining Base, or the amount of Wool produced from a Ranching Base.
It's likely that Pockpair didn't intend for this interaction to exist, and it may well be disabled in an upcoming patch - but for now, enjoy the everlasting noms.
How to Make a Guild Chest
You'll need to unlock the Guild Chest in the Ancient Technology Tree at level 41, as shown above, for a total of 4 Ancient Technology Points. Defeating Alpha Pals and Tower Bosses are your most consistent methods of quickly obtaining Ancient Technology Points.
Constructing the Guild Chest can be pretty expensive, especially when factoring in that you need to make multiple chests across all of your bases to actually access the contents. You'll need 50 Refined Ingots, 100 Paldium Fragments, and 10 Ancient Civilization Parts.
The Refined Ingots can definitely be somewhat troublesome, as you'll need to throw lots of Iron Ore and Coal into an Improved Furnace to produce them. But it's definitely worth the expense, as you'll need to grow less food, meaning that your hard-working Pals can be reassigned to areas that push your progress.
