Mistfall Hunter: Cipher Guide

Catch yourself a prize or two.

Updated 3 min read

Mistfall Hunter is a game where loot is the aim of the game, but some items you can find in-game have a lot more value than others. In fact, some items you find in-game could well have value outside the parameters of this extraction ARPG.

Mistfall Hunter contains items called Ciphers, which are essentially like lottery tickets. They allow you to potentially earn some real-world rewards, like extra keys for the game, Razer hardware, and much more.

However, you may be wondering how you get your hands on these Ciphers, and how they work. So, allow me to break it down for you.

How To Get Ciphers in Mistfall Hunter

To put it as plainly as possible, Ciphers are more or less obtained the exact same way as other items in the game.

These are gold rarity items, so they can be acquired on all maps. That said, they will be quite hard to come by unless you are playing in Chaos and Cataclysm Mode, where the base rarity of items increases significantly.

These items drop and need to be extracted just like any other. So, be sure to place them in your safe pouch if you have room.

How To Decipher in Mistfall Hunter

Provided you get a Cipher back to camp, you can then go about deciphering this item.

First of all, you need your character to be at least level five to unlock this feature, so you may need to do some grinding XP before you can use your Cipher. So don't go selling it before you unlock this feature.

After you reach Level 5, you will then be able to go up to just about any character at camp, and they will give you the option in their respective menus to decipher your Ciphers.

These will populate this menu automatically, and you can then choose which you want to decipher. In most cases, this will be an unfruitful deciphering effort, as the odds are not in your favor. But even for a failed Cipher, you will still gain 450 Glydenblod.

Plus, every Cipher counts towards rewards that can be claimed every ten Ciphers.

Does It Matter Which Character You Use To Decipher?

An added factor to consider when Deciphering Ciphers in Mistfall Hunter is the type of Cipher you have. This will dictate who you should take the item to.

As mentioned, almost all characters can Decipher, but if you take the item to the wrong person, you effectively limit what you can earn from this Cipher.

For example, you may have the Elder Edict Cipher. If you turn this into the correct NPC, you'll also gain additional crafting materials alongside your lottery pull. Edict is a word that relates to matters of Church and Monarchy, which would point towards the NPC, Carazzo.

However, it is worth noting that you still have the same chance of winning the big ticket items, regardless of whether you pick the right NPC or not.

In short, it's an added bonus, but it's not going to rule you out of winning Steam Keys and Razer hardware.
