Mistfall Hunter: How to Beat Otto the Flesheater

Otto the Flesheater looks scary, but he's really easy to beat with these tips.

Updated 4 min read

During your travels through the treacherous lands of Hallowgrove and Brandrgarde, you've probably stumbled across some pretty powerful enemies. From Underlords to keepers of valuable chests, there's no time to let your guard down - especially with the Mist Lords lying in wait.

Mist Lords are the most prestigious PVE battles in Mistfall Hunter, presenting players with a huge challenge and a great opportunity to bag some impressive loot. If you're wondering how to beat Otto the Flesheater, all relevant information has been included in the guide below.

It's a smart idea to wait until your missions prompt you to challenge the Mist Lords, as challenging them under-leveled and under-geared is brave but usually fatal.

Where to Find Otto the Flesheater

Otto is Brandrgarde's Mist Lord and can be found chilling in the Main Hall, located in the center of the map. You won't be able to traverse the red barrier until around 20 minutes into the match, so it's best to spend some time gearing up before you take on Otto.

Once you enter and begin the fight, the room will be sealed off to other players - so don't worry about any suspiciously human counterattacks for now.

The Best Team to Defeat Otto the Flesheater

If you're solo queueing, you'll need to assess what team composition you're matched with upon loading into a match, as some teams are inherently doomed from the very outset and most definitely shouldn't challenge the Mist Lord, lest they lose any loot they have gained. Here is the best boss-killing team composition that you should be looking for:

  • Withered Knight - a frontline unit whose primary aim is to draw boss aggro, direct his attacks away from the rest of the group, and dodge skillshots. The Withered Knight is a very tanky class that can endure lots of damage, but a skilled Mercenary can also perform this function.
  • Blackarrow or Sorcerer - a ranged damage dealer is essential for consistent DPS on Otto, as they can keep sufficient distance away from the boss and have more time to react to incoming skillshots. While both of these classes might be pretty hard to master for PvP, they're a lot easier to pilot in PvE content.
  • Seer - the Seer is perfect as a supportive class to mitigate incoming damage and replenish your team's health bars mid-fight. Otto hits like an absolute truck, which quickly drains your team's healing resources, increasing the importance of the Seer's shielding and healing capabilities. Their shield totems are extremely clutch in the fight, especially if the Seer specs into the correct talents.

While you don't need to run this exact team composition, it's essential that you have at least one tank; a lone Shadowstrix in the frontline will likely fall very quickly.

Tips to Defeat Otto The Flesheater

  • Be careful of unstoppable pounce attacks - Otto has multiple dashes that cannot be interrupted, parried, or blocked, meaning you can only rely on your dodging skills. He'll glow red to indicate that he is charging up a powerful attack - I recommend you stop attacking and be ready to quickly swerve out of the way.
  • If Otto is targeting you, path away from your other allies - don't bring him towards your teammates as this will interrupt their skills and potentially damage the entire team instead of one target. Otto has multiple skills that lock onto a singular target; make sure you isolate yourself to gain maximum value.
  • Keep your finger on the dodge button - keeping your health high is the key to winning this fight, as one wrong move can cost your entire health bar. Make sure you're ready to dodge as Otto inflicts extreme damage to anyone caught in his attack combos.
  • Parry or block any attacks that aren't unstoppable - a skilled tank can completely interrupt Otto's skills, creating an opportunity for the entire team to unleash their full potential on his staggered body.
  • Otto is enhanced after losing half his health - he'll begin to glow a bright gold colour, which is your signal that his moveset just got upgraded.
  • Watch out for golden gloop on the floor - in his enraged state, his skills are more focused on AoE abilities; make sure you watch your footing. Your tank might be able to help the group out by keeping Otto in a corner to lessen the threat of the gloop.
  • Flying Rocks - keep your eyes peeled for any rocks thrown in your direction; it can be quite surprising and super punishing if you're not alert.
  • Kiting the boss is key - your team's main gameplay loop should consist of juggling Otto's aggro between one another, and keeping him sufficiently far away. His healthbar will take a while to reduce, so don't expect to quickly blow him up.

With these tips going into the fight, you'll easily take down Otto the Flesheater and destroy any puny human challengers with ease. Make sure you loot his body and interact with the teleporter before any vultures try to steal your loot.

Good luck challenging the Mist Lord, hopeful hunter.
